Thought of the day

Just recently, almost every other morning I wake up listening to the morning news, I just cross my fingers and hope not to hear another tragic story of some kid being killed or murdered.
Just last week there was this big news going on about two 16yr old girls being charged with wilful murder of their 15yr old friend. The reason being they just wanted to know what is the feel like of killing someone and watching them die.
Then two days ago, one toddler of 18months was killed by a car (family friend) reversing out of the driveway.
Today's one was utterly disgusting. One 8 yr old girl being sexually assulted and murdered at a Canning Vale shopping Centre yesterday. She and her uncle and brother went to do some shopping and three of them went for a loo break and when the uncle and bro came out, they couldn't find her. Later she was found murdered in the disabled toilet. The murderer is found today and being charged and he is 21-yr old man.
Isn't these all tragic stories? People can't go and use the public toilet in peace now? Don't know why but I just feel so much for this 8yr old kid.
And remembering on the first week of work, there was this horrifying news too. A toddler of 2 months was thrown into the dryer by the mother's boyfriend for 2minutes. She suffered really bad burns.
My colleagues are all disgusted with all the stupid people's actions.
Okay change of topic to something more light-hearted.
Once again, I am sitting at my desk, thinking of some things I can fake to act busy.
Over the weekend, i rented some dvds and thought prolly I shd give OC a go. Turned out, currently, yes, I admit I am abit slow... but I'm kinda hooked to OC. hahaaa
Thurs my girls are coming over to Perth... can't wait. till then :D

Just a Glimpse

Typical Friday at the office. Casual Friday.
Today was told by mgr that what I have been doing for past 2 weeks will not be necessary anymore as there is a new program installed so no manual work will be needed. So now my jobscope is going to change a great deal.
Followed by a weekly meeting with my mgr, Glen. Told me about how my department works and what I am expected to contribute in the next 6 months. Then I was told that usually the company will hire the temp staff as perm staff after the contract ends. Something like the "try before you buy" concept.
Glen is a very good mgr, he understands how to make a team work and produce excellent results. Today one of my colleague broke down due to personal reasons and he just came around and had a chat with her. He knows her problems too. Just feel that we are kinda tight-knit team. SO enough bull about work. Just a glimpse of how my work environment looks like.

Colleague Shane goes to gym before heading to ofc and the guy in black is my mgr.
Sleepy me at 7.30am
After work, we all gathered at the big desk and GM, MGRs, CFO, MD all came over and have beers and wines. Staffs from every department will gather around and have some free booze and chips.
So far everything is brilliant. Work's good, can't complain. Oh Yes! few days ago, Sam and I been to the Sass & Bide warehouse sale but we reckon the first warehouse sale held last year was so much better. Tomorrow shall be going to one of Sam's play once AGAIN. ha~ shd be good. She has designed the costumes.
World Cup starts tonight, Australian Football League is in season now, this sunday is Rugby (AUS vs ENG) oohhhhh busy busy...
Weather: Chilly but sunny
Music: currently watching Bend It Like Beckham
Mood: Sleepy tryin to stay awake for World Cup

New Chapter

It's been quite awhile since I last blogged. For the past few months since March, I have been working at Yuki Restaurant as a waitperson. Every odd day I will send tons of applications via www.seek.com.au in hoping that I do get a real job.
So one fine day, Yvanna was so sick of going for endless and to no avail interviews, she decided if there is an interview, there is still a chance. But she was rather disheartened by the fact that nobody wants to employ her as she was not a permanent resident yet. Meanwhile she also planned to move nearer to the city and continue of her search of a perm job. She did apply for different apartments at Mill Point and viewed many other units with her dear friend, Deb. The places looked either like the setting of "Dark Water" (The Movie) or those typical haunted apartments that are so run down that if anything does happen to you, nobody will even notice.
So dear me went to apply one unit at Mill Point, was a neat place and it's really romantic seeing from the balcony of the beautiful autumn weather where the maple leaves fall to the ground (sucker for romance?). Unit is situated minutes away from Swan River and there is a bus stop right at that unit. But as usual, being such a black bird, I got declined.
Continued to work at Yuki and search for other units. Til I saw this not a bad place at West Perth, newly renovated and very nice furniture included. Bingo! I got that unit and the following day, when I got the confirmation that I got the unit, I went for this interview. Due to miscommunication with the agent from the employment agency, aparently she assumed I did get my PR and I assumed that when she meant that I had to come back to Aust for my PR, she knows that I am waiting for it.
When driving back home after the interview, she told me that there is a job vacancy at iiNet and I was to report to work immediately on Monday. But Monday I was supposed to meet the house agent to get my keys to the new flat and I planned to move my stuff. Anyway, of cos grab this opportunity and I declare I am black bird no more (*fingers x*).
Pics time. Hope this dialup connection can upload the pics. It's taking forever to load. tmd... oreadi 5mins liao.
hahaaaa...

So I have worked for one week at iiNet and I am loving it. The contract with iiNet is for 6months and pending if they still want to employ me after that cos it's the contract with the employment agency too. iiNet's a young people environment and open concept like FEO. Funny thing, director of my dept and managers sit at the door but my seat is at the corner and next to the glass window and I get the view of the city. haahaaa.... Yesterday, there was this social function for the staff, we all went to Fairlane City Bowl and had a great time. By 4pm, managers and staffs were all drinking beer in ofc, was actually suppose to go to the irish pub downstairs but as there was a function and company has ordered boxes of beers and wines. Typical Friday.
On my first day @ work, the Induction staff sorta browsed me through the org chart and my name was in it! That really means alot to me as I doubt from previous work experience if other people of the company even realised my existence? There is MSN and we are free to use it I think. hahaa... Working hours are damn flexi. As long as each day u commit yourself to 8hrs work doesn't matter what time you get into office. Of cos cannot be too late la. So everyday I come into ofc by 730am and get outta ofc by 330pm. I get up at 6am and make myself brekky and off to work by bus. :) nice experience and it saves me tons for parking in the city.
So far things have been running quite smoothly for me so no complaints. In July, I am going to start studying again. Yes, the finale (I hope). That's the goal I have set myself after uni and that is my CPA.
Something about Yvanna:
It's been good so far. Him being attentive to my needs most of the times and we understand each other at a different level now. Today he came over, actually suppose to come by last night or was it Thurs? Can't remember now. He bought me flowers but realised I don't have a vase. He said he will bring a vase the next time he comes over and he too got me a dvd player as promised. He's excited about the new flat when i told him i got approved and he liked it here. He told me juz now about the promo that MAS is having fly to Sing for 485 but its for two to fly. I think he was anticipating for different response but... okay, the conversation goes like that.
Him: MAS to Sing but via KL is now 485 and it's two to fly
Me: Oh Is that so?
Him: Yeh... That's cheap.
Me: (Giving him the blur look) so what about the deal?
Him: (Paused...) Yeh... It's not a big deal. Maybe SQ is better.
Is he asking me to fly back for a trip with him or is he asking Dean to fly with him, I do not have a single clue. But that was exactly my response. I would love to fly with him for a short getaway but I can't leave Aus now and furthermore I am working now, don't think I want to take days off as I am being paid by the hour as it is a contract job.
Roses are Yellow . . .
Weather: Perfect autum weather (13degrees) Sunny and bright:)
Music: Theme song from Notebook (Best Love Story Ever!)
Mood: Contented
